Yuvraj capable of destroying any attack, says Srikkanth
Chennai: Chairman of Indian selectors Krish Srikkanth, impressed with Yuvraj Singh’s innings in the fourth innings of the Chennai Test, has said the left hander always excelled in pressure situations, and that only a big-match player like him could have played that innings in Chennai.
He told The Times of India, “I always believed that Yuvraj is a match-winner. In the past too, he has always played well in pressure situations. This is not something new. He is such a player that if he can get his eye in, he can destroy any attack, just like Virender Sehwag. Imagine the strength of Indian cricket with others like Gambhir, Sachin, Dravid, Laxman and skipper Dhoni.”
After a first innings failure, Yuvraj played a crucial innings of 85* in the fourth innings, as he forged a 163-run partnership with Sachin Tendulkar and guided India, who were chasing a fourth-innings target of 387, to help India win the match and go 1-0 in the two-Test series.
“He has a long way to go but I’m sure he will produce more Test-winning knocks for his country,” Srikkanth expressed confidence about Yuvraj.
