Dilhara Fernando is a right-arm seamer from Sri Lanka whose major part of the career has been hampered by injuries. When he first burst into the Sri Lankan team, he was tagged as a replacement for Chaminda Vaas. Fernando is tall, well-built bowler who is capable of bowling quick deliveries effortlessly as pace comes naturally to him. Fernando uses an uncharacteristic modus operandi, splitting the fingers on the ball as it is released from the hand. He also has good variations in his armory. He played a crucial role in the islander's road to final in the 2007 World Cup. However, he predominantly has remained a wild card in the side who can either win or lose a match in one spell.
